You may not have heard of The Lounge Co yet. But I’ve no doubt you’ll be seeing quite a lot of them soon. Because? They have created some fabulous sofas for you to fall in love with. Not to mention armchairs, footstools and cushions.

This brand new company has got some of the best furniture makers in the country for starters; part of a group who have been making sofas and chairs for years, so it’s safe to say they know their stuff. Their craftsmen have tested and tweaked every one of their twelve sofas and six chairs over, and over again, to get them just right, and isn’t it always reassuring to know that the furniture we buy is designed and manufactured in Britain? As if that’s not enough, when browsing the website, you’ll find that they have 15,000 possible combinations of fabrics, leathers and styles, and lots of styling tips, videos and a clever ‘configurator’ to help you make the right choice. Because let’s face it, choosing a sofa is a big purchase and it’s important to get it right.

Alongside a state-of the-art ecommerce site, there are 21 UK ‘galleries’. These are The Lounge Co installations with independent furniture retailers who often have generations of furniture expertise. Customers can truly experience the brand first-hand wherever they live and ‘play’ on interactive mood boards to bring their living room vision to life, all whilst benefiting from fixed digital-world prices. It’s the best of both worlds – an interactive e-commerce experience combined with optional personal service from experts close to home.
When The Lounge Co invited me to choose some of my favourites for this post, I was actually so spoilt for choice I had a hard time narrowing it down to just a few. In the end I decided to include a few of the more colourful options because for some reason I can’t quite fathom yet, I’m in an adventurous mood lately and I want to encourage a more adventurous you too.

And there’s lots of excellent reasons for choosing a coloured sofa or armchair. Let me explain.

1.A coloured sofa will give a room a real focal point. Somewhere for the eye to alight when walking into a room. A sofa will often be the largest item of furniture in a room so to make it bold will make a real statement.
2.A coloured armchair will provide an accent colour in an otherwise neutral scheme. It can have the effect of separating the chair from the rest of the room and therefore giving it a different feel. A cosy corner for reading perhaps? Or a place to enjoy the garden view?
3.A bright sofa in a darkly decorated room will often have the same effect as an inspirational painting or a strategically placed table lamp. It will glow jewel-like and give a lift to the rest of the scheme. A welcoming beacon that will draw visitors, and you, to sink into it and immediately relax.
4.Because let’s face it. Life’s too short to play it safe all of the time.
