The Versatility of the Vipp Kitchen

I’ve written about the Vipp kitchen before. It’s modular and predefined in size, form and material. The opposite in fact, of a bespoke fitted kitchen. You can choose which particular pieces you want and you simply put them in position, just like free-standing furniture. It’s no less beautiful than bespoke however. It’s solidity and handsome good looks transcend fashion and fickle trends. And last time I wrote about them I stressed how versatile they are too, because they look good in whatever setting you happen to put them. And this is possibly their strongest selling point. So much so, that Vipp have published a coffee table book featuring 20 stunning homes with each one containing this adaptable kitchen.

The 13th Century Townhouse

Straight lines contrast with undulating flagstones and ornate plastering in this historic French house. Who would want to ruin the proportions and character with a fitted kitchen. The Vipp works perfectly.

The Minimalist Concrete Home

The outside of this house may be minimalist, but inside there is no shortage of luxury materials. The black grain in the marble picks out the colour of the kitchen perfectly, and the owners ceramics and wooden stool add personality.

The French Farmhouse

The Versatility of the Vipp Kitchen

Looking anything but ‘farmhouse’ in style, the Vipp kitchen in this setting looks robust and utilitarian against plain white walls and white tiles. Only the wooden bowls and chopping boards give a hint at the rusticity of its setting.

Scandinavian Living

The Versatility of the Vipp Kitchen

Set against a typical Nordic palette of black, white and grey, this simple island kitchen allows the period details to stand out and sing. The juxtaposition of old and new works because of the limited colour palette but it’s the kitchen itself that is the star of the show.

Positioning the black kitchen against a backdrop of wood introduces a warmth and earthiness to the setting. Stainless steel contrasts beautifully and introduces shine.

“Twenty Homes – One Kitchen”

“With its free-standing design and modular anatomy, this nomad kitchen has crossed many borders and is today placed like a piece of furniture in numerous configurations in homes worldwide.

Vipp’s new book lets you step into twenty distinctive homes across four continents, nine countries and eighteen cities. The architectural scope presented in this inspiration book offers former-factory flats, an 18th century castle, a modern farmhouse, newly-built architecture and even a medieval stone house. The residences all differ in size, location and aesthetic, but share a common denominator in their choice of kitchen.”

The 300-pages coffee table book is available in Vipp stores and online.
