In today’s world, screen time as play time is increasingly becoming the norm, leaving little time for kids to engage in open-ended imaginative play. Toyi wants to change that. The social enterprise founded by Elif Atmaca and Ögeday Uçurum partnered with ATÖLYE, an Istanbul based transdisciplinary innovation platform, to create its two eponymous creative play kits that enable kids to take everyday objects and transform them into their own unique creations.
The kit comes with no instructions. Using various wheels, feet, eyes, joints, sticks, flexible rings and junction parts, kids can turn an egg carton into a car, an empty cup into a crawly creature, or a cardboard box into a train.
Additionally, through Toyi’s Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, for every Toyi kit purchased, another will be donated to a disadvantaged child through different partnerships around the world.
