UK-based Chisel & Mouse creates three-dimensional maps of urban landscapes, like London, Chicago, and New York City, that combine digital and handcrafted techniques to produce each one. Cityscapes are artistic replicas of actual cities where architecture, roadways, waterways, and parks come to life as sculptural models you’ll wish you could dive into to explore.
Since 2011, Chisel & Mouse have been honoring architectural landmarks and cities through their process that begins with using satellite data to create the digital model of each particular city. Using that model, they make a 3D printed version which then leads to the use of traditional molding and plaster cast methods.
Cityscapes are incredibly accurate (to the nearest meter!) and are scaled at 1:5000 to represent an area of 1.5 km x 1.5 km. Each finished design measures at 30 cm x 30 cm (just under 12″ square) and comes with a removable acrylic cover for displaying flat on a table or on a wall.
