The Latest Stunner in a Regency London Townhouse From deVOL Kitchens

Just when you think deVOL cannot possibly top their last kitchen design revealed to the world, they just go right ahead and do it again. I’m not going to apologise for sharing yet another example of their exquisite workmanship. This kitchen just has to be seen if only for its stunning colour combination. In fact the designers at first wondered how the Sebastian Cox range would fit into a Regency London townhouse with such an abundance of period details. This historic showroom needed to be decorated with style and care as befitting its original features. And the Sebastian Fox range after all is, shall we say, more artisan and rustic, and a tad minimalist in style.

To everyone’s amazement and relief it all worked out beautifully. The room has become a glamorous and glittering little kitchen with a stunning copper worktop that has created drama and a reflective quality to a rather dark space.

I still think the colour is the star of the show though. The designers needed a shade that worked with the existing colours in the rest of the house so decided to stick to ‘Clerkenwell Blue’ from the Real Shaker range which is used on the ground floor in the main showroom. Only this time it’s a tint applied as a subtle wash of colour, allowing the natural textures of the band-sawn beech to show through. The fact that it is used on the walls too ensures that the overall look is cohesive and works.

And the copper has been repeated as a splashback in between the heavily moulded windows and again with a seamlessly integrated copper sink and beautifully aged taps.

A London Glazed Wall Cupboard from the Real Shaker range has been used on one wall instead of using woven glazed cabinets from the Sebastian Cox range. Although they are quite beautiful and light and airy in their construction it was felt this room needed a much more substantial cupboard. The two quite different style of cupboards have worked perfectly giving everyone an example of how to mix and match deVOL cupboards to create a really unique kitchen in their own home, whatever the age and style of property.

I think it’s an absolute triumph.

The Sebastian Cox Kitchen by deVOL is made by hand from British timbers in Leicestershire workshops and prices for this range start from £15,000.
