When Mirjam and Tom Espinosa came across an old building originally designed by renowned Dutch architect Piet Zanstra, they decided to turn the abandoned structure into a modern hotel that evoked the warmth and nostalgia of the 70s. Mirjam wanted to create a space that was just like her home: an eclectic mix of vintage 70’s furniture with modern furniture. Though she does not have any formal education or training in interior design, you’ll see that she clearly has an eye for it in the newly opened Hotel V Fizeaustraat.
Luxe decor, vintage furniture, and modern details outfit the interiors of the Hotel V Fizeaustraat, a reflection of the hotel’s pride in its unique and edgy city.
The Palm Room, the hotel’s underground event space, is perfect for conducting business and private events. The hotel’s proximity to the Amstel station makes it easy for attendees to travel to the site.
Feeling hungry? Pick from a selection of fine dishes, wines, and cocktails at The Lobby Fizeaustraat, the hotel’s private dining space. Pro tip: book through the official website and breakfast is included for free.
The building was empty for 12 years before Tom and Mirjam decided to establish the hotel. While parts of the building needed to be updated (like installing green living roofing to promote sustainability), other parts were restored and reinforced to retain the 1970’s construction design and building’s charm (like giving the original metal windows a sustainable glass coating to control climate and temperature).
