Welcome to this week’s edition of 10 Beautiful Rooms ( I think I’ve turned into a chat show host over the weekend) anyway, this week we are taking our inspiration from The Shoot Factory which is one of my favourite websites and is full of fabulous houses and buildings that you can hire for photoshoots. Or, if you don’t actually need to do a photoshoot – hello most of the world – it’s just a good place to wander around looking at beautiful places and getting some ideas.
This first and if this is a houseboat, I’m moving. It must be a big boat as there’s no way I could get two sofas facing each other in my sitting room even if we removed the fireplace. I love those pink floor cushions too.
Another view of the same place so you can see how the antique table works really well in the space. It’s back to the old design tips again – something new, something old, something black, something gold. Or at least metallic and, in this case, it’s those gorgeous lights over the kitchen island. And that silver splashback – it was worth a close up.
Next up the botanicals trend. I’m not sure I could be trusted to look after all these plants – children are basically less temperamental – but it is a lovely space for sitting and contemplating.
You know what this one is about? This isn’t about living in a fancy loft with acres of space and oodles of money. This is about adding a touch. And in this space that touch is those lights. Green. Totally unexpected. Totally make the space. I’d hang ’em lower but it’s not my loft. Green lights though. That’s a touch.
And here they are again, this time with black painted window frames and an exposed brick wall. Clearly you’re no-one if you don’t have green factory lights over your table.
Talking of touches though, here’s another – using tiles to zone a space. I love that idea you don’t have to live in a huge space to pull it off. It would work in any dining end of any eat-in kitchen. Simple but clever.
Still on large loft space though because this one is gorgeous. It’s in a former laundry and the owner has tried to keep the original spirit of the building so the choice of an empty picture frame on the wall was a deliberate attempt to highlight the beauty of the wall.
Finally, have a look at this which is clever use of space and while you might not be able to reproduce this exactly, it should at least spark the thinking process so that you start to wonder if you need to be restricted by conventional walls. Here is a bedroom with a false wall – this is not dissimilar to my own bedroom where I have built a wardrobe behind the bed.
However, here the owners have found the space for an entire bathroom under the eaves. It’s a really clever idea, and if you are planning a loft conversion then it’s worth considering. You can see their clothes storage is in the concealed cupboards by the bed and the basins are fixed on the back of the wall/bedhead. Good innit.
What do you think? I hope you liked this selection of 10 Beautiful Rooms and have found some inspiration for your own homes here.
