A Home That Shows the Owners’ Love of Concrete

A Home That Shows the Owners’ Love of Concrete

Studio Benicia recently completed a four-bedroom house in Concord, Sydney, NSW that was inspired by the homeowners’ love of concrete. The original red brick cottage didn’t work for the family any longer so the new, low maintenance Concord House_I was designed.

Both indoors and out, concrete is incorporated as the main building material, which is paired with elements of wood.

In the kitchen and dining room, concrete floors are paired with black and wooden cabinets and white countertops, giving it an modern, industrial feel.

The clients wanted a speedy building process, which required meeting strict rules along the way. They wanted a contemporary residence that was better suited for their modest sized lot while keeping their existing pool. They worked within the guidelines by designing a seamless plan that allowed the indoor and outdoor areas to function as one.

The main living space has retractable glass doors that open the space up to the outdoors. The partially covered terraces extends the square footage during warmer times.
