House Tour – A Family Home in London with an Artisanal Aesthetic

house tour, London, crittall windows and a glass ceiling flood the family room with light

This is not your typical Victorian family home house tour. You might be expecting period features, deep cornices and a traditional kitchen, but in that respect you’d be disappointed. I don’t think you’d be disappointed however by the walls of washed and polished plaster, the raw wood, and the linear fireplaces.

House Tour - London - Oversized Artwork gives an artisanal feel

House Tour - London - Open Plan kitchen, dining space with raw wood

Styled by its owner, this stunning home has had walls removed to open up the traditional layout and now includes a large reception room at the front, a large kitchen/diner at the rear, leading on to a family room, where Crittall windows and a glass ceiling flood the area with light. And on the two floors above are three en-suite bedrooms, and outside, a contemporary courtyard garden.

House Tour - London - polished plaster walls in the bedroom and traditional furniture in the dining room

House Tour - London - White Glazed Tiles make a great backdrop for a collection of succulents

House Tour - London - Polished plaster and oversized works of art

The metal windows and raw wood kitchen give the place a slightly industrial feel while the oversized artworks and eclectic accessories create a distinct artisanal aesthetic.

House Tour - London - Contemporary Courtyard Garden

I’d move in for those polished plaster walls alone. Oh, and that courtyard.

Currently to let, via Domus Nova.

Graphic WTF Lamps by Sergey Lvov

Graphic WTF Lamps by Sergey Lvov

Merging modern graphic design elements with the basics of the suprematism art movement, designer Sergey Lvov created the KUBIS collection of lamps as a way to shape a new idea. Whether you’re saying it, typing it or reading it, WTF is a pretty common term these days and quadrangles, circles, and crosses were the focus of that early 20th century art style, leading Lvov to take both of these two-dimensional ideas and turn them into three-dimensional realities.

Kasimir Malevich’s 1916 painting, Suprematic Composition, is fairly noted as the representation of suprematism, which is what inspired the lamps. With table, floor, and hanging varieties, the quirky lamps bring design ideas that are 100 years apart and find a way to make them work together.

The sleek kitchen hides away the details leaving you to wonder where everything is, including the kitchen faucet. Once the sliding doors are moved, you can see everything perfectly tucked away until needed.

Behind the smoky blue glass wall is the bathroom that features one entire wall covered in Aparici Vanguard System tiles, which have a vintage look. The shower fixtures match the color of the dark tiles behind it, which continue onto the floor of the bathroom.

A Wooden Bookcase Inspired by the Rubik’s Cube

A Wooden Bookcase Inspired by the Rubik’s Cube

Inspired by everyone’s favorite 80’s toy, the Rubik’s Cube, designer George Bosnas reimagined the idea of a bookcase for Greek brand Anesis. Rubika B601 adds some visual delight to a standard bookcase by giving it the look of a three-dimensional cube.

The wooden bookcase is designed to hold all the things a regular bookcase would hold and more – books, decorative objects, bottles, etc.

The Opus Sport has a sleek, aerodynamic look with a glossy finish and matte accessories. The Opus Cruise has an elegant look, with supple leather and metallic carbon. Each bike is customizable, and the wood version is coming soon next year.
