Wall tiles have really come a long way. Once considered a practical splash-back only, in bathrooms and kitchens, they are now often the show-stopping feature in many a room scheme. Designs have evolved so much that you can now find a multitude of colours, shapes, patterns and finishes. Wall tiles can provide the colour that dominates the room, the style that emphasises the desired look of the room, or the texture that turns a clinical, hard-edged space into something more interesting. But what if you have decided you need the practicality of tiles but want to create a softer, more muted, or historically inspired look? You might in that case like a new collection of large format tiles recently launched by Original Style.

The Collection
The new launch consists of 8 capsule collections of large format tiles. Less grout lines peeps! And so beautiful, understated, and luxurious, that they have the effect of wallpaper when used on the entire wall. You wouldn’t want to use them any other way to be honest. They also come with coordinating plain colour options, and so far, four collections have been launched – Palazzo, Maison, Opera and Eden.

Palazzo consists of six designs and is inspired by the grand palatial buildings of Italy. They are beautifully luxurious and look as if they have been inlaid on classical carrara marble.

Maison is three muted French blue designs printed on a softly textured off-white base tile. The result is effortless grace and subtle pattern.

Opera (my favourite) is a modern twist on the classic designs. It’s inspired by faded grandeur and timeless fabrics with a distressed look. There are three different prints in two colour-ways. Soft grey and off-white.
Original Style Living Hothouse CS2114-6030
Finally for now, Eden is lush and leafy. Probably the most modern of the four collections it’s inspired by the current trend for tropical prints. There are three patterns – Glade is a delicate bouquet of ferns, Pergola is feathery trailing fronds, and Hothouse is a riot of palm leaves.
