A child’s transition from crib to toddler bed doesn’t always go smoothly with a their newfound freedom often leading to repeated escapes. Then, there are the children that sleep in their parent’s bed and never want to leave, much to their parent’s dismay. Whatever the reason, when it’s time for their first “real” bed, making it a cool one will probably help the change go more smoothly and get them excited to try it out. To aid all the parents out there, Valencia, Spain-based Homelabdesign recently designed a modern children’s bed that not only looks like a bed a design-loving parent wouldn’t mind buying, but it seems like a bed kids might actually enjoy.
Their Geometric bed for kids was inspired by old handwoven rattan chairs with the small openings that allow light to pass through. The low bed has the same idea with perforated semi-circular panels that make up the headboard, footboard, and side panels. The laser cut panels help prevent the kid from rolling out of bed while adding a modern detail that really stands out, especially in the dual color choices.
