Alex Groot Jebbink’s Angles pendant light uses MDF that’s laser cut into 64 rectangles, varying in size from small to large, to form its bulky structure. Created for Odesi, the design allows it to be hung in two different ways, as an X-shape or as a cross, giving it a completely different appearance.
The goal was to push its volume to the max while using a minimal amount of material and by cutting thin rectangles of MDF, he was able to achieve that. By stacking the material in the same thickness, the pattern of repetition becomes a key visual component while remaining a simple idea.
