Spanish architecture firm 05 AM Arquitectura completed an interior project on this “Maison à Colombages” built in the late 19th century in the suburbs of Paris. The new interior is quite a surprise after viewing its traditional exterior, but they managed to do the renovation while respecting the style of the house.
One of the main goals was to improve the layout and its functionality for modern times, so on the ground floor, walls were removed to open the main living area up to unite the living room, dining room, and kitchen.
They wanted the new renovation to respect the home’s history so many of the original details were kept intact, like the alcoves.
In the main bedroom, the bed is placed within an alcove creating a cozy place to sleep.
In the bathroom, the alcove is outfitted with marble to become the tub and shower area.
In the children’s bedrooms they used the same alcove idea as they did in the main bedroom by placing the beds in there making it a feature in each room.
