A young couple with a child commissioned Taiwanese design firm KC design studio to renovate a 125-square-meters residence they wanted to call home after living in another country for many years. The owner had lived in the Xindian River neighborhood as a child and now wanted to raise his own child in the same district. The results are a combination of the couple’s styles – modern elements for the husband and natural details for the wife – that harmoniously come together to form a warm and elegant space.
In order to disguise the steel girders and pipes on the ceilings, they deconstructed it to create arched panels leaving room in between for them.
They’re able to bring together the styles by using different materials for the floors, walls, and ceilings. For instance, they’ve paired polished concrete floors with a more natural wall color with a textured finish and brick on the curved ceilings.
