High Street Hero’s – Sainsbury’s Home and it’s Restoration Kitchen Range

The smart black, white and grey ceramics are perfect for a modern, urban kitchen, but the oak touches, warm the collection up. And the enamel and aged aluminium items add a slightly industrial vibe

It’s time to give the heart of the home a little love. When we moved into our new house three years ago the kitchen was a done deal. We’d had some say on colours and finishes, and went for white cupboards, a black worktop and a black tiled floor. But essentially it was a basic ‘new development’ kitchen. We’ve since added white metro tiles with black grout. And that’s it. Everything in it (apart from our old dining table and chairs) was new then, and the newness novelty is definitely wearing off.

12 piece dinner set, £40.

I have some controversial plans to add a bold tropical wallpaper. Controversial according to the BF that is, who is still not convinced. The wooden table top is going to get stripped as soon as the weather is dry enough to get it outside, and the legs are going to be painted black. I’m also going to add a black pendant lamp above the table. All not before time.

Enamel saucepan, £6. Large oak serving board with metal handle, £16. Wire egg holder, £4.

And then I spied the new Restoration Kitchen Range from Sainsbury’s Home. A collection of tableware, cookware and utility items that will fit right in with the look I’m trying to achieve. The smart black, white and grey ceramics are perfect for a modern, urban kitchen, but the oak touches warm the collection up. And the enamel and aged aluminium items add a slightly industrial vibe, making the whole range a lot more edgy and bang-on-trend.

Striped straws, £1.50. Small stacking jars, £6. Large stacking jars, £8.

What’s making the collection even more desirable is the price range. I filled my shopping basket with two metal handled, oak serving boards, two smart black canisters with oak lids, and a whole variety of metal racks and holders, and got change from £70. All of the items look much more expensive I have to say, and I’m looking forward to using them.

Pop-up storage boxes (bottom shelf), £8 each. Glass bottles, £3.50.

All available from Sainsbury’s Home.
