ASH NYC’s second collaboration with Dig Inn takes it to Rye Brook, NY where they were charged with designing a 4,200 square foot space that promotes the small-chain restaurant’s “Dig-isms,” values that promote well-being, community, and relationships.
Through design, the restaurant is divided into three separate spaces: the front-of-house dining, the food pick-up station, and a slower-paced area for evening dining and drinking. ASH uses a progression of light to dark materials to give each area its own aesthetic. The evening dining area is filled with deep saturated greens while the front of the house area is brighter, lit by pendants and large windows that play into the restaurant’s fast-but-elevated casual dining feel.
ASH furnished the interiors with custom pendant lighting made from hand-blown glass globes and brass arms, custom furniture like the long oak and marble tables to encourage communal eating, and private nooks for working.
The eatery just opened this January 2017. As a commitment to helping its communities and promoting sustainability, Dig Inn donated 50% of its opening day sales to the American Farmland Trust, a nonprofit organization that helps protect millions of acres of farmland from development.
