Trends to Watch – White Marble

white marble trend in the home

Once upon a time white marble was reserved for ‘high end’ bathrooms and designer kitchens. Prohibitively expensive for most of us, we could only dream of that cool, smooth surface in our own homes. In fact it was usually reserved for my ‘when I win the lottery’ folder on Pinterest. But listen up. White marble has hit the shops in all manner of guises. If you can’t afford a wall (or even walls) of book-matched marble, you can probably afford a wall of marble wallpaper. Well okay Piet Hein Eek wallpaper is still not the cheapest on the market, but it’s a hell of a lot less expensive than the real thing. And if you need it to go behind the shower, Tile Mountain have some very nice Carrera marble look tiles.

Not only does white marble scream luxury, it’s also indescribably cool and trendy. And not just in the kitchen or bathroom. It lends itself to minimalist interiors, monochrome colour palettes, and all of those lust-worthy Scandinavian vibes. Not to mention mid-century inspired rooms. But add a touch of brass or copper and it becomes as glamorous as a hollywood starlet’s boudoir. Add a smidgen of wood and it becomes immediately warmer and more homely.

In fact it makes anything look more expensive. Whether it’s the real thing or whether the beautiful white and grey veining is just for effect. I’ve definitely got my eye on that stunning trolley and hanging shelf above, and the kitchen pots and boards below.
