FLEXSE is designed as a contemporary example of a traditional Scandinavian grillhouse, a small backyard building outfitted with grill tables and/or chimneys that can be enjoyed during colder months. The house, designed by SA lab, gives anyone needing some alone time or someone cooking a cozy spot to relax when the temperatures are dipping. During the summer, the doors can be opened up and one can enjoy the front terrace.
The oval design of FLEXSE keeps the footprint to a minimum while maximizing usable indoor space. This first prototype was designed as a BBQ hut, but the module can be used in a bunch of different ways, including as a guest house, office, sauna, or tiny house. Both the interior and exterior can be customized to suit each client’s needs.
FLEXSE is easily assembled onsite with parts made from 100% recyclable materials. It can be placed on various types of foundations – concrete slab, metal piers, etc. – for use in different areas.
