Dutch design duo Scholten & Baijings created the COLOUR WOOD series of polygonal coffee, side, and dining tables for Karimoku New Standard featuring barrel-shaped bases. The collection was inspired by the traditional Japanese wood joint technique, yatoi-sanetsugi, where the bases are crafted from individual planks of wood that join together at a tricky angle in order to form the round tapered form. While some of the pieces remain in plain wood, others incorporate colors and graphic patterns printed directly onto the tabletops.
In addition to the tables above, the series also includes stools with grid patterns carved into the seats.
COLOUR WOOD also includes miscellaneous objects, like these platters and the bins below.
