The talented stylists at H&M Home know how to feed our fantasies this summer. Who wouldn’t be seduced by images of dining at sunset, looking out over the sea? Or the vision of a comfy, cushion laden outdoor bed, complete with wafting curtains. The sounds of the ocean lulling us to sleep? Or the very idea of an open air shower to wash off the sand. Before wrapping sun-kissed skin into a cotton kaftan? Can you tell I’m smitten?
But it doesn’t all have to be a fantasy. There are ideas here aplenty for turning our own backyards into our own little paradise staycation.
Create That Holiday Vibe at Home with Some Summer Styling
Moving the double bed onto the patio might be going a little too far. But why not use a daybed for some summer snoozing? Piles of pillows and cushions are a must, and some strategically placed curtains will provide some privacy from the envious eyes of the neighbours. There’s nothing quite like whiling away an afternoon reading that novel you’ve been saving or just having a snooze. Just like on holiday. A few home comforts like rug, and a strategically placed light for when the sun goes down, and you might even decide to stay there all night long.
Dining alfresco is one of the easiest things to emulate at home. A patterned table cloth, linen napkins and squashy seat cushions will make it feel special and more of an occasion. And its the perfect excuse to get out the rustic tableware, wooden bowls and chunky glass carafes. Simple fare is the order of the day too. Who wants to cook? A spread of cold meats, cheese, olives and wine will satisfy most appetites and means there is less washing up too.
And even if you can’t rig up an open air shower. Why not btw? Just swapping out your bath towels for something as evocative as ocean blue and Santorini white will breath some fresh air into your bathing routines.
Who needs a holiday?
