A 1979 Arizona Mountain Retreat Gets a Complete Renovation

A 1979 Arizona Mountain Retreat Gets a Complete Renovation

The Paradise Valley, Arizona, location of the Hi-Lob Residence might have been dream-worthy, but the 1979 interior was anything but (see at the end). Enter Nuria Pla Studio, who came in and completely renovated the 3,200 square foot mountain retreat into an open, modern space for entertaining.

The panoramic views of the mountains are framed by sliding glass doors that open up for indoor/outdoor living. The triangular shape of the room leads the eye straight to the view. The home’s prime location nestled in a mountain affords ever-changing views from sunup to sundown.

While updated and modern, the interior still feels relaxing and casual with a neutral palette that doesn’t take away from the surrounding landscape. A majority of the furniture was custom, like the double-sided sofa that faces the fireplace and TV on one side and the outdoors on the other.

The new terrace extends the living space to the outdoors and is framed with a glass railing. An infinity pool on the edge completes the outdoor area, which can be used year-round in Arizona.

The kitchen features bamboo cabinets, white quartz countertops and floors, and a walnut butcher block island for prep and seating.

The upstairs houses two bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms. French oak hardwood floors give a relaxing feel and they contrast with the darker wood doors and furniture for a warm look..
