New: Captivating Floral Wallpaper Designs from Farrow & Ball

You will know by now that I’m a big fan of wallpaper. All wallpaper designs. I’ll often share the boldest and most outrageous designs here because that is what catches my eye the most. But sometimes you don’t want a wallpaper to shout at you. Sometimes you want wallpaper to provide subtle colour and pattern. To look as if it is complementing a room scheme rather than dominating it. So when I need a wallpaper to provide this, and to add the necessary warmth and interest to an already well-established aesthetic, I’ll often turn to Farrow and Ball. They have an unerring knack of taking historical designs and updating them in a contemporary way without losing any of the charm and appeal of the original.

Hegemone

The three new designs launching this Autumn have a floral theme and do take inspiration from the current trends of texture, maximalism and nature, but in a quieter way. They are richly textured, expertly coloured, and uplifting twists on traditional patterns. And I don’t think they’ll mind me saying – they need to be seen in a lifestyle setting to really appreciate them. Samples show the texture and colour but not the real beauty of the exquisite pattern repeats and the way they enhance a room rather than overshadow it.

Helleborus

These beautiful images do just this job. They show how you can use wallpaper in character homes but in a modern way. Each one looks as it if it has always been there, while adding a refreshing lift to period details, country furniture and eclectic room schemes.  The rooms look as if they have evolved over time. Each item adding a new layer of interest and personality. They have been expertly styled but the result is one of casual and un-self-conscious detail. I love them.

The Details

Hegemone takes its name from the Greek goddess of fruit and flowers. It looks as it if has been cut from paper. It’s less rigid and defined than a classic floral pattern, each colouful petal blooms freely in all directions.

Atacama

Atacama was inspired by a brightly coloured fabric found in an old mill. It’s a playful tropical print named after the flowering South American desert. The intricate botanical design combines rich textures and delicate patterns.

Helleborus

Helleborus is a large motif design. First drawn with a pipette for a sense of unrestrained fluidity, each petal looks as if it is unfurling from the wall. The name is Latin for the hellebore flower.

All of the papers are handcrafted using F&B paint (so easy to match with paint colours) and traditional block printing methods. And each design is available in seven colourways from soft neutrals and muted pastels, to striking colour combinations with metallic accents.

Hegemone is £97 per roll, Atacama is £86 per roll, and Helleborus is £112 per roll.
