An Industrial Style Kitchen – Get The Look

While it’s true we don’t all have a lofty kitchen space with Crittall style windows and aged parquet flooring, we can still have an industrial style kitchen with a few easy shortcuts.

This sun-dappled kitchen styled by H&M Home has all the required elements and more. A hint of bare brick in the window reveal, concrete worktops, white metro tiles, metal touches, and acres of grey surfaces. It should appear cold but it’s far from it, thanks to the warming elements of a beautiful wooden floor and chunky shelves. Plus of course that thriving pot plant on the window sill.

How to Get The Look?

I promised you shortcuts and here they are.

• Emulate the look of industrial style factory walls with concrete effect wallpaper.
• Get the look of parquet flooring without the upkeep by using porcelain tiles that mimic the effect of wood.
• Hang a large metal mirror that has all the style of industrial windows at a fraction of the price and upheaval.
• Keep colours muted. It doesn’t have to be grey – other neutrals will work just as well.
• Ditch the wall cupboards in favour of shelves.
• Use utilitarian style tiles for the splashback. Flat metro tiles with dark grey grout are perfect.
• Choose accessories that would not look out of place in a loft style apartment. Particularly brass and other metals.
• Keep tableware simple.
• Add plants.
