Where There’s Muck There’s Brass

brass planters

Since writing last week about the very inspiring book At Home With Plants, I’ve been on the hunt for some brass planters. I’m determined to cultivate some green fingers and I loved the way the brass pots shone out on that black mantelpiece. Metallics are on trend (and brass is rapidly taking over from copper), plants are on trend, and dark walls are on trend. What’s not to love.

The Best of the Best

The best ones I’ve seen by far are on the Mia Fleur website and I’m particularly taken with the pots on mango wood stands. At £115 for the large, and £84 for the smaller size, they may not be the cheapest but they are very classy. The stands add height and make it very easy to create a lush tableau of greenery, while still being able to see the beautiful containers. These would look best on a sideboard where they would be viewed from the side.

Urban Outfitters also have a gold coloured bowl planter on a stand at a very affordable £16, which would make a stunning centrepiece on the dining table. They also have a selection of hanging brass planters so it’s worth taking a look.

And another effective way to add height to a display of houseplants is to vary the size and shape of the planters. This trio of Ferm Living hexagon pots would do the trick. The price starts at £32 for the smallest size and they are available from DotMaison. These would be my choice for the mantelpiece (if I had one!).

Also on my radar are the planters at Lilac Coast, via Notonthehighstreet. They are £68.95 for the set of three and are large enough to stand on the floor.
